This weekend I had the opportunity to a Mix Media Weekend at the Cozy Crop House. Kate taught this project using using soda cans and alcohol ink. We colored the back of the cans with alcohol ink, cut them out (I used "Tattered Flowers" by Tim Holtz), and ran them through embossing folders. I then made layers of flowers using thick pop-dots.
We started out Friday night making an ATC. The background was done using Tim Holtz Distress Paints. Some stamping and punchinella was added. The butterfly is from a napkin.
This is the book that we altered to make sleeves to add tags to with techniques. It was taught by Teresa. We covered the book with gesso and then painted it with Tim Holtz Distress Paints. Added lots of layers with stamps stencils, and punchinella. The bird was made using grunge board. We added distress crackle on top of it.
Another project taught by Teresa was this canvas. We tore a lot of DP to use for the background. We then added music, dictionary paper, pattern paper, and tissue paper. The girl, birds and words were then added. Finally, we added rub-ons
The final project was a white on white canvas. This was taught to us by Tami. We started by using a stencil and molding paste. After letting that dry overnight, we painted everything with gesso and then started layering and gluing things down. This would make a great wedding gift if done on a larger canvas and you could leave a space for a wedding picture.
The final thing we did was play with a gelli plate. That was a lot of fun and very messy.
Now I have tons of unique background papers to use on my cards. Check out my friend Kerri's blog to see her projects.
